News Watch Headlines Live from the Grand Prix, stage 2 - Boatercross Leif and Natalie - After the big trick contest, we packed up and headed over east to the Rouge river for the big water boatercross. The rains closed in and the weather cooled off quite a bit. The Rouge is a pretty sweet river. We were there at relatively high flows, but I imagine there are good rapids there at almost any level. The river is not incredibly large (for our race, the flows were close to 400 cumecs, which is less than 15,000 cfs), but it's steep enough that the rapids still have a lot of power. We had a warmup day, and spent that day searching for waves. Coastal Georgia Kayak Fishing Bash Savannah Canoe and Kayak - On 26 April 2014 our local kayak anglers held a fishing tournament to help the local chapter of Heroes on the Water. We had 15 anglers show up to participate in this low stress very friendly tournament called the Spring Bash. Local Heroes Dagger Blogs - I grew up in Siskiyou County which has a population density of 7 people per square mile (New York City has 27,532). As a beginner in my Dagger CFS it wouldn't seem possible to have local heroes, but I did. Just wrapping up their careers in whitewater Dustin and Brandon Knapp left a legacy of first descents on everything in the area on top of remarkable exploits around the world. Madison Wave Jackson Kayak - The Madison wave is so fun to surf that the wait in-between your last surf and next can be excruciating. This for me is truth because of shear excitement, energy and potential for something to take place there, out on the wave you did not expect. Yen Loyola Distressed Mullet - Hey guys, this is Yen. This event provides great opportunities for experienced kayakers, kayak anglers, and newbies to the sport. Most of the major kayak manufacturers were represented at this year's event. WWGP Stage 1,2,3 Martina Wegman - The first three stages of the 2014 Whitewater Grand Prix are done and dusted! The Grand Prix kicked off with a Big Trick Freestyle stage on Gladiator on the Ottawa River. Some impressive tricks where shown by the 35 competitors. Nick managed to take out the top spot of the men's with an impressive Flashback into Airscrew! In the ladies it was Mariann Saether taking the lead after the first round, throwing some solid big tricks.  Jessica Cichra Completes The 12 Mile Key West Classic on The Shubu Raven Inflatable Boardworks SUP - Team Board works Surf paddler Jessica Cichra completed the Key West Classic last weekend on the New 12.6 Board works SHUBU Raven Inflatable. After a flurry of races this spring in Florida on the Board works Eradicator 12.6, Jessica decided to give the 12.6 Raven Inflatable a go on what has become one of the toughest races in Florida. The event officially "kicked-off" Maui's downwind season as the community joined together for a good cause on the legendary Maliko Run. New River Dries Flow Study Dates Set (WV) (Update 5/5) Am. Whitewater - Dates for the New River Dries Paddling Flow Study have been confirmed for May 6 and 7, 2014.   Volunteer paddlers with suitable (Class IV) skills are encouraged to participate in the study, and to RSVP.  The best way to be notified if the study dates are delayed is to RSVP, and we will also update this article.  Bart De Zwart is all set for his next expedition... SUP Crossing - Bart De Zwart, the guy we admire as he is an inspiring endurance athelete, who though not really very young still goes on difficult expeditions processed with the spirit of a youngster. And now he is off again to do the French Polynesian Crossing. So, lets see how he prepares himself for this expedition and cheer him on!! …
