AdventureX Flights to Nepal Booked & Battle Oats Fuel in the Tank

Playak News Flash - April 14, 2014
The world's latest paddling headlines.
Anton Lippek AdventureX Flights to Nepal Booked & Battle Oats Fuel in the Tank
Anton Lippek - My flights are booked and next Wednesday I will be heading out to Nepal with AdventureX to run a 15 day Kayak School on the rivers that wind through he breath taking Himalayas. I'm really looking forward to meeting the group and catching up with the Nepalese guys I have missed dearly since my last adventure in Nepal.
Jackson Kayak North Branch Winooski in The Karma, Some of The Best Kayaking in Vermont.
Jackson Kayak - This winter has been a brutal one, with cold having a firm grip on most of the country and ice-lock on rivers from coast to coast. After a recent move from Vermont to Tennessee, I'm not missing the snow, but I am missing my friends, the rivers, and missing the anticipation that usually happens in April on a heavy snow year as it's only a matter of time before the ice lifts, and rivers run free again.
Wavesport Blogs A Kayaker's Guide to Making Friends
Wavesport Blogs - Believe it or not, the topic of making friends will perplex even the most sociable of kayakers at some point in their paddling career. This is not because we are weird, many of us are in fact relatively normal. It's because we rely on our paddling buddies in a very different way to how we rely on our boozy weekend buddies. So here we go. It's by no means a comprehensive list, but this is the paddlers' choice of four tips for making friends.
unsponsored First Thoughts On The Wavesport Mobius 49
unsponsored - It's refreshing to paddle a small playboat that actually feels like it's designed for the smaller paddler, rather than feeling like a shrunken version of the medium size.
Mt. Hood H2O Boulder Creek: A team building exercise
Mt. Hood H2O - This was my second time down Boulder Creek in the Siletz drainage.  It is an enjoyable but logistically challenging class IV-IV+ run with a tough 50' waterfall. Paddling in the dark can be very enjoyable under the right circumstances, or it can be very dangerous under the wrong circumstances. This trip had a little of both.
unsponsored The British University Creek Race 2014
unsponsored - Last Saturday saw the second annual British University Creek Race take place in Glen Etive. Perfect medium water levels allowed for a challenging but fun day of racing. The student race course was comprised of two runs of the middle Etive and a final lap of the Allt A' Chaorainn.
A whole bunch of Ing's Windy weather activity
A whole bunch of Ing's - When I left for Hopeall head on foot it was a sunny blue day. I had visions of a beautiful sunset and a starry night in the pitch black forest. Arriving into Georges cove I was faced with the reality that the parkour style hike out over fallen debris was somewhat in vain. Cloud cover had rolled in and the rain had begun.
GrindTV On-Water Yosemite opens 'water trails' on Merced River
GrindTV On-Water - Kayakers and rafters have a new cliff-lined paddling playground in the heart of Yosemite National Park. While California's Merced River has long been a hotbed of paddling outside the boundaries of the park, paddlers have now gotten the green light for a coveted section within the park as well.
Trash Paddler Everybody's Back on the Assabet
Trash Paddler - This splendid spring morning found the Assabet River coming back to life, so to speak. Shortly after launching at Magazu's Landing in Stow, MA, I encountered Patrick who was fishing from a nice open boat he built himself over the winter.
Jackson Kayak How to lift your yak!
Jackson Kayak - Were I a bettin' woman, I'd wager that the single-most frequently asked question I hear regarding kayaking isn't always presented in question form; rather, it skulks through conversation, coming up as allusions.
International Rivers Batoka Gorge Dam, Zambezi River
International Rivers - The main driver for the dam is to supply power to both Zambia and Zimbabwe.  The development of the project will be under the auspices of the Zambezi River Authority (ZRA),  a joint body tasked with overseeing development of the Zambezi Riverstretch shared by the two countries. Two power stations will be constructed  (one on the north and the other on the south bank), with a combined capacity of 1,600MW.
Patagonia Study Abroad Olympic Slalom Kayaker Pablo McCandless Named Head Coach for 2014-15
Patagonia Study Abroad - Patagonia Study Abroad is proud to announce our newest staff member and Head Coach, Pablo McCandless. Pablo is a Chilean native and decorated slalom paddler who has been training and competing internationally for more than 20 years. Pablo's career included a bunch of stuff…
Tony Paradise We'Re Back
Tony Paradise - Last evening we had our first Thursday evening practice/get-together at St. Philips for the year. It was windy so we spent the evening catching some surf rides. A bit of a slog into the wind, turn, drop skeg, paddle furiously to get on the face of a wave.
Gene17 On the River Flow – April 2014
Gene17 - Every month we bring you the best of our news, events and developments in a single source, Gene17kayaking's River Flow.
Frogma Spring Safety Spiel
Frogma - I suspect I'm preaching to a combination of choir and fellow preachers here but I always feel like I have to do this this time of year - the air's warming up but that water is still cold to the point that a mishap that would be humorous in August could actually be the last mistake that person makes.
