News Watch Headlines Club Champs–Freestyle & Boatercross Training Weekend Team I-Canoe - The weekend of March 15th and 16th saw the running of the Freestyle and Boatercross Training Weekend for the upcoming Club Championships event on April 12th and 13th. As expected, the Predator 13 and MX were very well received, and we sold out of Predator MX kayaks by Saturday morning. Railsaverpro New Ambassador SUPboarder - Pepe, started competing just a year ago, but already proved his potential on the national championship. On 2014 he'll start competing at the Stand Up World Series in Brazil as well as in the spanish and catalan championship and other international races. A Few More Prospect Park Birds - Plus - Ospreys Are Back Frogma - Skipping drawing tonight in exchange for sorting through a few more birds. I was mostly looking for ducks, but was completely willing to take pictures of anybody else who wanted to pose for me. Even the odd human (emphasis on odd). Hood H2O - This run has descended into obscurity in the recent past. It has a promising write up in the guidebook and flows when other Oregon streams are low. It could be that this lack of interest stems from the legal issues surrounding the kayakers who were arrested in 1991 for scouting a rapid on private property back when this stream used to be run on the regular. April Volunteer of the Month Presented by Kokatat Am. Whitewater - Jess Whittemore is a known face in the Upper Yough (MD) paddling community. First chiseling a name and reputation as a squirt boat innovator in the early 80's and more recently as member of the Friendsville, MD Town Council where he has been representing the interests of the paddling community to local leaders while forging a sense of unity between local residents and boating community. Slater Trout Grabs 4th Win in 2014 and Earns Spot on Team Usa Boardworks SUP - Slater Trout has been up to some serious business on the race circuit this year and has won his 4th race in 2014. Slater spent his winter training hard in California and the payoff has shown big on the water this year. The Road to Recovery Jackson Kayak - This past May I hurt my back. I blew out the disk between my L5 and S1 vertebra. I have tweaked my back a little in the past but not to any major extent. I now understand what back pain is! At first I started to get a bunch of numbness in my left leg, and that then lead to lack of muscle control due to the nerve that controls the calf getting squeezed by a good bit of pressure due to the bulging disk. Big Purchase Christina Russell - Josh and I have been using one car between us for the past 2 years. We grew to enjoy just sharing a car (and we loved having to just repair ONE car). But once back in the lower 48, we quickly realized a second car was necessary. Prior to moving to Alaska, we sold Josh's Tacoma in favor of getting a more complimentary car to the Landcruiser. The perfect Challenge- Crossing the Corcovado Gulf SUP International - After a first visit to the island of Chiloe two and a half years ago, I left with an unsatisfied dream: crossing the channel between the island and the continent. The charms of that island and its people have always attracted me and I knew I would come back to do a major crossing. At the end the crossing was more or less as I expected, sometimes greatly enjoyable, sometimes tough and difficult, and sometimes requiring mental fortitude to maintain an exhausted body in motion.
