Playak News Flash 2010-11-03

Playak News Flash - November 3, 2010
The world's latest paddling headlines.
Jordan Searle Start of the Summer
Jordan Searle - Since arriving back in NZ the weather has been terrible with heaps of rain, snow in October and just outright dismal weather. Last weekend, however, this all changed and we managed to get some great weather and bagged the Whitcombe Prices. This season I am turning my focus towards video, in hope of producing a grassroots white-water film at the end of the summer and because of this I am going to throw up some short teasers of the trips we get on.
Fluid Blog Pacific Northwest Huckfest 2010: Part 2
Fluid Blog - Since I had flown all the way out to Oregon, I wanted to paddle some runs that were off the beaten path and avoid the local after-work type runs as much as possible (such as the Green Truss and the Little White). Not that these aren't great runs but they have been done so many times that a trip down them is an insignificant as winning the Nobel Peace Prize has become. After a light day of mountain biking,
Immersion Research Its Official- New Guinness World Record!
Immersion Research - Just got word yesterday that Andy Corra's record has been certified by Guinness after 10 weeks of credentialing!  He is now the new world record holder for "Longest Distance by Kayak in a 24 hr Period".
Level 6 "Chronicles of Rage"
Level 6 - Chronicles of Rage(COR) is Keegan Grady's video blog. I'll try to bring you some educational and useful information but all I can really promise you is a fresh edit every 11 days. Enjoy.
Ross Herr Green Race day 1. It begins
Ross Herr - After my last class and a short shift at work I knew I wouldn't be able to calm down enough to sleep. I hopped in my truck and split for the south. A week on the Green River Narrows is what I need. I got to Saluda in time Friday night for some awesome local feasting with Isaac and a good nights rest. Saturday brought all kinds of people to the river. It was awesome to see the locals and fast gunners who have been training for months styling their lines.
KayakPucon New 2010 Chilean Creek Season
KayakPucon - Is so good to be back in my home town Pucon again, Iam so ready to start another season here and I so happy to find good water level in some of my favorite rivers. Pucon is full of rain and mountains are full of snow, is good new for this summer.
PeakUK Pringle's UK Freestyle Update
PeakUK - Our British Champion will be decided on the results of the UK freestyle league series (4 events best 2 count) and this overall standings from this league will also count as 1 event out of 3 for our GBR team selection for the Worlds in Plattling next year.
Fluid Blog Season's done. Time to play!
Fluid Blog - I'm already back home in Germany, trying to get my life sorted before heading to the Grand Canyon and finally moving to Canada. As I'm trying to do all this I can't help but look at the pictures of the last two weeks before I left.

The original fiberglass and wood-strip "Wenonah Canoe" is now on display at the Winona County Historical Museum in Winona, MN as a proud piece of our local communities history.
paddling.net Approaching A Panicked Swimmer
paddling.net - When I began teaching, I taught my students to get to the capsized boater quickly to affect a speedy recovery. That was until I encountered my first panicked swimmer. After that experience, I trained my students to be speedy, but cautious when approaching a capsized boater. Since my unfortunate experience, I have observed numerous basic kayak classes taught by other instructors and I still see students being taught to charge in to help a capsized boater.
Paddling Life Babushkas, Borscht, and...BOATS!?!?!
Paddling Life - Ah Slovenia, land of babushkas, borscht, and…boats. That's right, boats. Lots of 'em. Most of the western world wouldn't consider the former Soviet Republic a hotbed of paddling action. However, here in the PL office we know better.
Adrian Shanahan River Safety Rescue 1
Adrian Shanahan - With the winter kayaking season now upon us and it looks like the serious drought of 2010 is now over people are dusting of their boats and getting ready to hit the water again.
Hans Heupink Surf kayaking video - Bakkum last week
Hans Heupink - Anoushka is regularly sending invitations to join the surf sessions in Bakkum. Alas it's a relative long drive from Woerden to Bakkum and in the weekend there are too often too many obligations/excuses not to go paddling - so it's a long time ago I surfed in Bakkum. The last time I did was quit memorable..
On Kayaks Thursday, October 28th, 2010. Fear kills all great ideas.
On Kayaks - Under this great title, Sea Kayaking UK, has released the promotionad video clip for a new DVD which Nigel Dennis, Jeff Allen, Simon Osborne and Vaughan Roberts will be working on the following year, filming sea kayaking in its most extreme conditions.
Kokatat Blog Optimist Symposium with Helen Wilson
Kokatat Blog - Kokatat Ambassadors Helen Wilson and Ben Lawry spent some fun days on the water at the Optimist Symposium in Israel.
