Astral Currently Surreal Whitewater, Dam Contsruction Sites, and the Birthpalce of the 7th Dali Lama
Astral Currently - The first descent of the Litang River has been a complete success, the team took six days completing 100 miles of river. The first three days ran through an unspoiled Tibetan region, with hot springs, geysers, and red pandas. An eventful first night included a midnight attack on camp by rock slinging bandits from the far bank.
Canoe & Kayak UK London Kayakthon 2011
Canoe & Kayak UK - The 2011 London Kayakthon will take place on the 17th of April 2011 and the organisers are hoping to build on the sucsess of last year's kayakathon and get even more experienced kayakers on the River Thames to paddle 26.2 miles through the heart of the Capital. The main aim of the event is to raise money for a variety of charities.
Four Borders Expedition The Lower Bashkaus – Gorges, Campfires and Vodka!
Four Borders Expedition - The gorge of the Lower Bashkaus has a reputation as one of the hardest runs in the former Soviet Union. Although only 25 miles long we were recommended to allow four days to run it (or two weeks if you're a Russian rafter!). The gorge is extremely committing; there is only one possible escape point up onto the high surrounding plateau.
Four Borders Expedition Karagem / Argut – A Great Multiday Adventure
Four Borders Expedition - After the excitement of finding an awesome river in Mongolia, we continued the search for more white water but with no avail, so we packed up the trucks for one last time and headed back to the border hoping that the crossing into Russia would be less eventful than the previous one.
Simon Willis Kayak Balance Exercise
Simon Willis - A few mnths ago I wrote a piece about the 5 Star Training session I did with Gordon Brown of Skyak Adventures. (Incidentally, Mark Tozer has written a good piece about 5* assessment).
SeaKayakPhoto.com A hall of mirrors in Loch Goil
SeaKayakPhoto.com - We arrived at the douce Victorian villas of Lochgoilhead 30 minutes after sunset. They had been built before the mountain road was constructed. Each day, the owners commuted by steamer into the dirty smoke and smog of Glasgow. Just like them, we had come to Lochgoilhead to escape from the city. The darkness gathered round us, pouring down the hillsides and spilling out over the water of the loch like Indian ink.
homemade kayaks More from the misty day
homemade kayaks - Still looking for the best way to capture the feeling of paddling in the mist.
