Mt. Hood H2O Battle Axe Creek: Lite
Mt. Hood H2O - I woke up Tuesday morning with tentative plans to go kayaking. Matt and I had planned to get up leisurely, check levels, and maybe tackle something close to Portland. I finally pulled myself out of bed around 8 o'clock and got on USGS to find that EVERYTHING was in. Overnight, the Little North Santiam @ Mehama had gone from somewhere just below 1000cfs all the way up to 2700... and rising. The first thing that came to mind was Battle Axe creek, a small trib high up in the Little North Santiam drainage.
rockratrobinson It's all gone a bit wet
rockratrobinson - It's been a bit wet recently and this only means one thing: kayaking. I've eventually got round to emptying the back of the van of climbing kit and have started getting used to the damp, wet smell that comes with the kayaking scene. Yesterday, the rivers were huge and after getting a quick morning run down the Greta we headed over to the Caldew, behind Blencathra.
CackleTV Next stop "Tierra del Fuego"
CackleTV - Almost 3 years after taking on the wild surf and unpredictable weather of New Zealand's South island, Barry and I feel ready for another challenging trip in a wild and beautiful area of the world. Neither of us have ever kayaked in South America before but we both feel a pull towards the narrow channels of Chilean Argentina, where we can gaze up at ice-clad mountains and maybe watch glaciers carving into the sea.

Oceanmaid Ventures 7 seals washed up on shore dead - what is happening?
Oceanmaid Ventures - It has been an interesting time in Churchill over this past week. I am witnessing behaviours I have never experienced before and it is definitely making us all scratch our heads. Up until this season I had not witnessed a bear benefitting from the rare occasion (and a free meal) by a seal being stranded, trapped or even washed up on shore. Yet this season I have seen 3 out of 6 incidents.
