Playak News Flash 2010-11-22

Playak News Flash - November 22, 2010
The world's latest paddling headlines.
Playak Sea-Eagle LongBoard 11
Playak - This versatile inflatable paddle board can be enjoyed either standing or sitting down. Despite being inflatable, the high air pressure makes it as rigid and maneuverable as a fiberglass board!
Evan Garcia Big Banana Falls, Rio Alsaseca
Evan Garcia - This is a belated update from the biggest drop of 2010 in my mind. All the boys found themselves in the deepest darkest jungles of Veracruz Mexico firing up drops from another dimension. Lead by the animalistic leader of the revolution, Rafa Ortiz, we found ourselves scouting the 128 foot Big Banana falls. No one would step up, until after 5 years of dreaming and waiting Rafa was ready to drop this stout.
Mark Basso Krutåga - Norway
Mark Basso - There's no question that the secret is out of the bag. Whitewater in northern Norway has always been on the map waiting for the first paddle strokes to arrive. Yet exploration by the foreign crowd has been limited mainly due to the laden creeks and overloaded options in the known southerly regions around Voss and Sjoa.
Todd Wells Mexico 2010: The Rio Jalacingo
Todd Wells - To us kayakers, the Rio Alseseca is without a doubt the most popular class V river in Veracruz. However, for those of us who don't mind working a little more for the goods I think think that the Rio Jalacingo can dish out just as good of a time as the classic Alseseca.
Palm Blogs Palm Equipment / Dagger Europe Tour
Palm Blogs - The guys from Five Element Productions were round last week for a tour of our Dagger Europe factory and Palm customer services dept. Here's Paul Robertson showing you the boat production process, and where your kit goes if it comes back to Palm for repair.
Playak Fluid partners with Paul Villecourt
Playak - Paul Villecourt is a professional whitewater photographer whose work I've admired for many years, but I never had the pleasure of meeting him until Kanumesse 2010 last month. Well, when we met at last, it turned out that Paul is a fan of my work too, and the connection was instant.
Team Pyranha Quick Chile Update
Team Pyranha - It's been raining hard for the last 12 hours. It's coming in sideways and it's cold. So, unlike the past 2 weeks of go go GO…we're sitting around drinking yerba matte, eating bananas, letting our bodies recuperate, and catching up with the world. Here's a quick photo re-cap of our Chile experiences thus far. Fred's busy making edits. So, the goods are yet to come.
CKS Blog Mike Tavares Reviews The Wavesport Project X
CKS Blog - So the first thing that I noticed about the new Project X was the shape. At first glance, the boat is very pleasing to the eye. Smooth lines all around and a very crisp and sharp looking boat. The boat looks like it wants to shred on the river and it certainly does.
Kokatat Blog Grand Canyon
Kokatat Blog - Good day team, I just got off the Grand Canyon! What a great trip – 21 days in one of the most beautiful places in the world. The deep canyon blocked out all the daily annoyances, and we were able to focus 100% at the task at hand – enjoying this place and appreciating the moment.
Canoe & Kayak UK Pyranha DartFest 2011
Canoe & Kayak UK - The two annual Pyranha Fest events grow in popularity every year and this year's Pyranhafest event at Canolfan Tryweyn in North Wales was the best yet. Hot on the heels of that success Pyranha will be heading for the wilds of Dartmoor and the River Dart Country Park early in 2011 for their Dartfest event.
Southernfairies Chile The Rio Claro
Southernfairies Chile - Looking at the map there are many Rio Claro´s in Chile. Amongst kayakers however one particular Claro is the most famous. Located about 2 hours south of Santiago the Claro is one of Chile´s most classic waterfall runs. Last year however the classic seven teacups section of river dried up after the massive earthquake. Fortunately it is now flowing freely again.
Wavesport Blogs More from New England
Wavesport Blogs - Since my last post New England has still been getting a bunch of rain and the Patriots are still winning games. I've pretty much creeked and played a couple days each week so far this Fall. I also have been getting ready for winter. We had a logger drop off a truck load of logs about 60 in our driveway. I've lived in VT for 5 years now and decided it's about time I learn how to use a chainsaw so I did. I've cut and split about 10 logs so far and have a lot more to go. Luckily I don't need them all done this winter just a few more and we'll be set with fire wood for the winter.
Adventurous Experiences Cumbria Rivers Trip with 'Wild River'
Adventurous Experiences - 4 fabulous days river paddling and moving water skills, white water safety and some interesting experiences! I've selected a few scenic pics :) Plenty of rain and storm force winds were also present on occasion.
Playak Jackson Kayak All-Star 2010 Carbon
Playak - What happens when you take the All-Star design and reduce its weight by 40% and increase ridigity?
Adrian Tregoning Klein Bobbejaansrivier – 2010 Huck
Adrian Tregoning - On one of the trips to paddle the Witte River this year we were faced with solidly high levels and it was still raining. Not feeling particularly brave to tackle it on a high and still rising river, we decided to put in a few rapids after the final slide and run only the bottom section which has a lot of water, but much less gradient. Shortly after the put in, a significant tributary joins in from river right – the Klein Bobbejaansrivier.
