Playak News Flash - November 18, 2010
The world's latest paddling headlines.
Mt. Hood H2O Pdxfilmfest 2010/new blog
Mt. Hood H2O - Here is my video from the 2010 film fest. It features a lot of rafting footage. Jeff Compton is in most of these shots and has started his own blog at www.yougonnaraftthat.blogspot.com Be sure to check it out. First post is on the first documented raft descent of Opal Gorge. They also smashed the myth once and for all that you cannot portage Undertaker on the left in the rain as they did it with two rafts... Not that it should be taken lightly, but it is very doable. enjoy the video.
Team I-Canoe Collign Gorge Games 2010
Team I-Canoe - Colligan gorge games seemed to take over where over boater X's in Ireland were being a premium Irish paddling and party weekend.
Vaya Con Rios Pucon-Chile
Vaya Con Rios - I ended up going to Pucon in the middle of September, wich is pretty early for kayaking but we managed to run some of the classics like: Maichin, Todo Puesco, Nevados, Palguin, alto, medio, bajo,Trancura.
Hans Heupink Dutch innovation improves safety of low head dams for paddlers (and for swimmers)
Hans Heupink - Dutch innovation improves safety of low head dams for paddlers (and for swimmers) . Every paddler with a little bit of experience knows that low head dams (weirs) are dangerous, potentially lethal. Though you won't find serious white water in the flat Netherlands (the one exception is DWD), the canals in the country are full with hydraulic engineering installations, such as artificial weirs, pumping stations, inlets et cetera, creating potentially dangerous situations.
Bryant Burkhardt A little rolling
Bryant Burkhardt - Here's a little clip of some rolling in the pool. Really just wanted to see how the camera angles came out so it's not the best footage or most descriptive. But I'm working on an article on rolling and wanted to get some shots to see what I might be able to put together for it.
SUP HQ Hot SUP in Chile
SUP HQ - Our friend Arnaud from SUPLatino sent us this video of a recent trip to Chile's SUP capital Arica. Arica is known for a temperate climate and waves for all levels of SUP riding. There is Ariqueños for a small relaxed beach break or La Isla and El Brazo for the more hardcore rider.
Will Herman NWSK End of Season Meet
Will Herman - With the SLR still away for repairs, and with my mind on other things, for the first time in a long while, I took no pictures of the first day's paddling. In fact there would have been some great shots to be had amongst the surf of Treadurr Bay.
SeaKayakPhoto.com Sea kayaking In search of the lost Ark
SeaKayakPhoto.com - Loch Long runs very straight and it is also very deep. It makes has some of the finest deep water jetties in the World. From north of Ardgartan we could see a VLCC* berthed at the Finnart oil terminal some 9km away. But this was not what we were looking for.
