Playak News Flash - October 4, 2010
The world's latest paddling headlines.
Northwest Video Scrapbook Grand Canyon of the Stikine River, B.C. (part one)
Northwest Video Scrapbook - Most of the time when paddlers endure a humbling experience it's about the adventure, your surroundings, and the decisions you make throughout the adventure. Seldom is it about the places you are unable to make it to..
Wavesport Blogs How to Pan-Am
Wavesport Blogs - All right so now you know how to blunt and you want to add another trick to your bag-o-tricks. It's time to learn the Pan-Am! Definition: A past vertical air blunt, boat must be inverted and rotate 180 degress and finish upright landing in a back surf or side surf.
Evan Garcia Fear Canyon of the Elaho
Evan Garcia - Here is the last installment of the B.C. videos that we made from our 10 day trip. The water levels were funky, but we made the best of it, and had a bad ass time up there. We hit the Ashlu, Tatlow, Elaho, and Cheakamus.
Charlie Simmons Good Times, Good Lines
Charlie Simmons - Its going down soon, with rainfall and autumn kicking in up here in North Carolina the steeps are sure to be great soon! Mmm Mmm looks tastey!
Palm Blogs The Fann Mountains, Tajikistan
Palm Blogs - With the expedition drawing to a close our last week has been packed with boating (and therefore driving, red tape, police check points, bribes, homestays, U-Turns etc). Got to make the most of it though while we're out here.
Level 6 Feather Fest 2010
Level 6 - Its hard to understand the kayak industry unless you're in it. We love to kayak but we also love to party, loud, long, and hard. The Feather Festival on the North Fork of the Feather river has continued to be a hub for great racing and EPIC partying. This year was no exception. Some of the top athletes on the west coast came and showed what they were made of.
Dash Point Pirate The Sensation Seeking Personality
Dash Point Pirate - When I tell people that I've taken up whitewater kayaking and show them pictures from my latest trip, they sometimes comment that maybe I'm turning into some kind of "adrenaline junkie". Nothing could be further from the truth. In just about all aspects of my life I am a risk−averse person.
Fluid Blog Colorado Late Season Festivals II: Gore race
Fluid Blog - Last year, I had a great Gore race, and ended up taking fourth in the creekboat class. This inspired a rivalry between me and my friend Conor Flynn, since the year before that, he had taken fifth in the creekboat class. I wasn't racing the year he took fifth, and he was in Japan the year I took fourth, so we always wondered who was really the fastest. This year, Conor was back from Japan, and we were racing against each other, so we would finally see who was the best.
Nick Troutman Sickline Race 2010 training video
Nick Troutman - I have been here in Oztal Valley Austria, for the past week training. I have been paddling with some really fast guys, Mike Dawson and Sam Sutton, and a couple guys from the Slalom World Championships.
Nick Troutman The Grand Canyon: video
Nick Troutman - This summer was my first trip down the Grand Canyon. It was an amazing experience, one I will never forget. With friends and memories I have made which will last a lifetime. Here is the video from the famous Grand Canyon, showing our trip and tons of the amazing White-water.
Liquid Logic The Romaine
Liquid Logic - Liquidlogic first went to the Romaine in 2008 when we first heard about the plans to build 4 hydroelectric projects on the river. The Romaine is known as one of Quebec's finest wilderness rivers, offering hundreds of miles of navigable water for canoeists and kayaker alike. It flows over the classic Canadian shield topography which produces miles of flatwater, punctuated by sequences of the most impressive drops found anywhere.
Dagger Blogs Having fun and pushing limits: Ladies Day on the Discovery Channel!
Dagger Blogs - The Discovery Channel joins Femme 45 for a ladies day out paddling in the gorge.
Kokatat Blog Kokatat goes solar
Kokatat Blog - There aren't too many businesses that can say their sewing machines "run on the sun," but that is what Kokatat plans to do.
Fluid Blog Colorado Late Season Festivals I: Bailey fest
Fluid Blog - The season here in Colorado is wrapping down, but it's definitely not over yet. There has been a steadily increasing number of whitewater festivals in Colorado in the fall. That number isn't increasing all that quickly, but it is increasing. Right now it's at about three. Maybe in a couple years it'll climb to four.
Canoe & Kayak UK Canoe Training helps LEopards to 5th in Adventure Race
Canoe & Kayak UK - The LEopards (Rama, Billy, James and Danny) have been training hard over the last few months for the Sailor's Society Wilderness Challenge in the Cairngorm Mountains in bonny ScoThe Lands' End Leopards cross the finish line of the Wilderness Challenge Adventure Racetland. When they approached us to help out with a spot of canoe training for the event we were more than happy to help. The race consisted of a mountain bike ride, followed by a canoe race across a Loch and then finally a run to the finish line.
