The world's latest paddling headlines.
Charlie Simmons 12 days to go.....GREEN RACE BABY!! Photo Update
Charlie Simmons - With only two weeks to go until the race, the chargers are starting to turn out....and not just the locals. Even with less than ideal river flow the monkey got spanked quite hard this passed weekend; though it did bite back on a few just to show its teeth. Here are some photos from the past few days.
River Left Productions I'll run it next time…
River Left Productions - For many paddlers like myself, we have told ourselves "I'll run it next time." We might be talking about an intimidating drop or a creek as a whole. Being afraid to run the hard drops and creeks is a good thing, and each paddler should take their time and decide if they should run or walk a certain drop. Raymondskill creek is one of finest creeks in PA; I first dipped my paddle blade in the tanned waters of R-kill back in 2006.
Evan Garcia Mexico Y La Revolucion
Evan Garcia - Well there's not much to say at this point. Mexico is the bomb and there is a lot of kayaking to be done here. Beers and big waterfalls! The mixture happens to be a good one...lucky for us. After a whole day filming in Mexico city, the largest in the world, we finally bounced out of the siphon of 27 million people and off to the country, the city of Tlapacoyan, and the home of the Rio Alsaseca.
The Blonde Blogger Days Seven & Eight: GBR Freestyle Team Selection
The Blonde Blogger - So for days 7 and 8 of my 365 project here's just a few shots from this weekend's GBR Freestyle Kayak team selection. The 2011 team are being selected for the World Championships in Plattling, Germany
Girls at Play Ladies on the Lower G
Girls at Play - Ladies on the Lower G, the annual American Whitewater Fundraiser, took place for the sixth year in a row September 17. This year was the largest group of women yet! We had a group of thirty women paddling together down the Lower Gauley, and raised $750! Many of the women had paddled this gem of a river before but several were their for a supportive first descent.
worldkayak blogs British Team Selection weekend Nottingham 2010
worldkayak blogs - Another good weekend at Holme Pierrepont Nottingham with competitions both saturday in the ever changing 2nd feature and Sunday in the Tardis proved for a fun weekend. It was nice to see everyone about and up for a good competition.
A whole bunch of Ing's Meilleurs bay-st cyr river-da swisha
A whole bunch of Ing's - I set off today with only one goal in mind; to finish off one section of river I had missed in the past year. No real things were drawling me to the area, except a blank piece on my map that required colouring in.
Ron Olsen, Twin Cities Border Lakes
Ron Olsen, Twin Cities - Late Fall trips to the Canadian border lakes can be tempting when the promise of nice weather is in the forecast, especially when I know Summer boat traffic is long gone. This time of year, the north country lakes are quiet. It's the time between fishing, hunting, and snow machines. Kabetogama was the choice this time, and with a base camp at Woodenfrog campground, we had a perfect opportunity to check out the West end of Kab.
PaddlingLight Fram Museum Kayaks and Kayaking Gear
PaddlingLight - In 2008, I visited Norway to kayak and be a tourist. The trip started in Oslo with visits to the museums. Then we flew north to kayak in the Lofoten Islands. After the Lofoten Islands, we kayaked in Aurlandsfjorden near Flåm. The scenery was stunning the entire trip – it's the type of place that you can drop a camera and get a great picture. Even though the scenery was overwhelming and the kayaking good, I enjoyed the museums the most.
