Playak News Flash 2010-10-28

Playak News Flash - October 28, 2010
The world's latest paddling headlines.
The Roaming Dials End of the season?
The Roaming Dials - Tim Johnson continues to lead Luc Mehl and me down ever steepening creeks: Magic Mile, Upper Willow, and, this past weekend, Upper-Upper Bird and its handful of stout drops, namely "Walls of Jehrico", a "20 foot" waterfall.
Jez Blanchard Dry season boating in North Queensland
Jez Blanchard - After returning from Tassie we have been super lucky to score some very wet days during what is normally the driest month of the year up north. With everything pumping we hit up Josephine falls and behana gorge, along with a few other rivers. Here is a short vid I made up from the last few days of paddling.
Jackson Kayak Skook in October
Jackson Kayak - Here's a quick video from my recent trip to Skook (my first video!). The weather was nice and the tides were great. I worked on blunting all summer just to get ready to go back to Skook, it sure was fun! Last year at Skook I was still using a star, but now that I have moved up a boat size I'm even happier. The all star is perfect from holes to big waves!
Tomass Marnics Altai 2010 - Part 2
Tomass Marnics - Continuation of the story about our trip to Altai Mountains this year.
Simon Willis Tay Descent 2010
Simon Willis - Check out the video!
Rapid Magazine Blog Video: Uganda With Brandon Hepburn
Rapid Magazine Blog - If I had to use one word to describe the whole trip it would be outstanding! We got our A360 flight to Dubai, then straight onto Entebbe. Emily Wall picked us up and took us to the best place on Earth: Hairy Lemon Island. We got there late at night and couldn't see a thing, but settled in anyway. The next morning our alarm was banging on the roof, crazy monkeys!
The Lake is the Boss Heading south
The Lake is the Boss - Against all of my normal instincts, the VOR and I migrated south this weekend. Lake Superior still has some prime paddling left, the deer are just entering the rut at the hunting camp, and its an up year in the 10 year grouse cycle. Still, we loaded up the boats and headed south to paddle Red Rocks lake, south of Des Moines, IA, with some old friends and to meet some new ones. It's funny how paddling those long skinny boats serves as the perfect introduction to all sorts of interesting people.
Canoe & Kayak UK Learn how to make an Anglesey Stick
Canoe & Kayak UK - Get a few days paddling around the coast of Anglesey in the sunshine, and in the unlikely event of miserable weather (or as a way of making use of the winter evenings) benefit from expert tuition as you make a paddle that works perfectly with your physique and paddling style.
Paddling Instructor Blog Lumpy Waters Symposium Caving Day [Video]
Paddling Instructor Blog - Friend of the site and fellow P&H Kayaks Team Paddler, Christopher Lockyer put together this great looking video from the Lumpy Waters Symposium which was held in Oregon a couple of weekends ago.
SeaKayakPhoto.com Auchalick Bay, Loch Fyne
SeaKayakPhoto.com - We continued paddling north up Loch Fyne along an unspoiled and remote coastline.
